Three Bright Mice
Titled "Three Bright Mice", this lamp is crafted from one single magnificent oak beam salvaged from a historic manor house in Wigan, Greater Manchester.
The beam proudly displays the features of traditional joinery techniques, flaunting a hand-hewn surface, oak pegs, and deep cracks.
Like many of our pieces this beam shows multiple historic notches that are mismatched to one single project which is a tell-tale sign that it has been repurposed more than once over generations in multiple structures.
Estimated to have been in the manor house for 350 years, the oak has developed a remarkable depth of character, with a rich patina, natural splits, and the authentic scars of hand tools and time that simply cannot be recreated.
Nestled within the joist pockets - once used to support the floor timbers above, sit three golden mice, each captured in a unique pose while holding a warm filament light.
These original structural recesses offer a glimpse into the beams former life, preserving its story while transforming into a striking functional work of art.
Dimensions: Height 154cm x Width 26cm x Depth 27cm, Weight 43.5kg.
